April is National Poetry Month. April 29 is Poem in Your Pocket Day. In this program, kids in grades 3-5 will sew a pocket in which to carry a favorite poem.
This program will entail the use of scissors and sharp needles.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten
For preschool kids
It's so simple:
Sign  up at the Children's Room desk. 
Receive your child's log book.
Log the books you read with/to your child.
Kids receive a sticker for each 100 book milestone.
They also receive rewards at the 300, 600 and 1000 book levels.
(And yes, if you read that book 57 times, you can list it 57 times. Repetition is good.)
